Cease & desist Patent legal notice

The holder of Patent may send the cease and desist notice to inform a third party about the Patentee’s rights, identity, and intentions to enforce the rights. The Cease and Desist acts as a demand to the recipient to stop ("cease") and not continue ("desist") this behaviour. If the recipient of the notice fails to comply with these demands, the Patenteeis entitled to take further legal action to stop the behaviour that is harming or interfering with the Patentee’s rights.A cease and desist letter is a first step towards litigation.
